In
certain situations, a water heater in the traditional sense
may be unnecessary. Indirect water heaters are the perfect choice
in homes with a boiler. These water heaters feature a heating
coil or heat exchanger inside a storage tank through which water
from the boiler flows. This hot water then transfers its heat
to water in the storage tank.
The water (called potable) in the storage tank is then
used for washing, cooking and all other residential demands.
Indirectly powered models require no fuel lines or venting
materials, however installation is somewhat more involved than
with conventional tank-type models because of the need for boiler
connection and circulating pumps.
