January 2, 2008
On December 17, 2007, the White House signed the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 into law. This new law focuses on energy efficiency and was primarily driven by high energy prices, growing concerns about global warming, and a change in leadership in Congress. However, the new law did not extend the 2006-07 tax credit for high EF water heaters.
Under the 2005 Energy Policy Act, installation of water heaters with a minimum EF of 0.80 qualified for a $300 tax credit. That tax credit will NOT be available for any water heater installed on or after January 1, 2008.
Owners of eligible water heaters installed between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2007 are still able to apply for the tax credit. For more information on the tax credit, please follow this link: http://www.bradfordwhite.com/news/300taxcredit.asp
There are still efforts in Congress to reinstate the tax credits. If attempts are successful, Bradford White will announce the result of the efforts on our website.
