Residential Gas – Power Vented Models
Beginning with shipments in late March of 2003 all power vented water heaters will include (shipped loose in the carton) a PVC exhaust adapter and two pipe clamps. This is similar to the fitting introduced in October of 2001 as part of a condensate trap kit; however, the condensate drain tube and clamps are now optional and sold as kits. The exhaust adapter drain connections will come capped on the 2” fitting for the TTW1 models and plugged on the 3” fitting (TTW2 & PDX2).
The exhaust adapter, which is to be installed on the blower outlet, improves the “fit up” between the vent pipe and the blower outlet. In addition, it should ease installation by eliminating the time and expense required with the application of high temperature silicone sealant on the blower outlet. Now, you will simply position the exhaust adapter on the blower outlet, insert the vent pipe end into the adapter and tighten the clamps.
The optional drain connection will facilitate the disposal of condensate that may accumulate under certain installation conditions. A supplemental instruction sheet (included with all of the models mentioned above) outlines the results of tests conducted to determine those certain conditions in which condensate may accumulate. A sample supplemental instruction sheet is displayed on the reverse side of this bulletin.
