206 – Pilot Adjustment, Honeywell Smartvalve


Models Affected: All Residential Power Vented, Hot Surface Ignition Models

Upon installation of the MITW or MIITW Water Heaters, inspection of the pilot is necessary.  The pilot flame size should appear similar to the illustration in Figure 2.  Pilot adjustment may be necessary for proper main burner ignition of the water heater.

The pilot adjustment screw is located on the gas valve, just “above” the pilot tube (See Figure 3).  Remove the cap screw and find the actual adjustment screw behind it.  Turn the screw in to decrease pilot flame, out to increase.  Replace cap screw when adjustments are completed.
